Beyond Sunday School; Before Hollywood is a preaching series exploring the original biblical texts that lie beyond the stories which have recently appeared in film and television.

It's a wonderful opportunity for fresh conversations about Christianity, with so many of the great biblical stories being represented on the silver screen in a largely positive light. 

Of course to talk do this well we need to be sensitive to the films as works of art and vehicles of entertainment.

Even more important and necessary is that we learn to read the Bible's stories themselves, understand their theological message and appreciate how they fit into the big Story of salvation history.

This series will also explore stories that are familiar to those who attended Sunday School growing.

NB: The Paul, Abraham, Joshua, Ruth and Daniel audio was recorded at our morning 'Breakfast Session' addressing mainly our student leaders. The Samson and Antichrist audio was delivered at our Uni Fellowship Engage conference, addressing core members of our group. Because of this, this original audience, they may not contain as much contextual information and clarifying comments as our Citywide Gatherings.
